MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY is the newest addition to the epic saga that is Final Fantasy. Unlike most other games on Android, this one was designed specifically with mobile device touch screens in mind – and it shows. So much so that both the game's controllers and its features are perfect for playing on a tablet or smartphone.

Written entirely by Kazushige Nojima, the screenwriter behind Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy XV among others, the story takes you on a journey through a shadowy underworld, full of danger where darkness will finally begin to lift as you beat challenges in each episode. It also goes without saying that the game is full of extras like the special events that only take place while your playing at certain times.

In MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY, combat systems are no doubt their strong point. Players get to choose from several different combat actions during their turn and can normally choose from normal attacks, deploying magic orbs, or unleashing final attacks. Mastering how to use which move at the right time and knowing your enemy's weakness is a major part of the game, but above all you'll need to focus on dominating the art of using elemental orbes.

As in other Final Fantasy games, MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY allows you to change classes. At the beginning of the adventure, you'll start without a specific class, but little by little as you unlock new roles like paladins, black mages, white mages, thieves, etc. Each class, of course, has its own special ability.

MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY is an astonishing game in every sense. Visually, in terms of the game's graphics, it's an industry giant. But, in other areas it is in no way lacking in quality. We're looking at a game with a track record of excellence, with a deep system for combat that's fun and also has an enormous amount of content.

Though its games started out being exclusive to Nintendo consoles, the seventh release – probably the most famous one – changed everything by moving to PlayStation, the first Sony console. Final Fantasy VII was a lot of people's first RPG experience, including my own, and this week the game turns 20. In celebration – now that Final Fantasy games have appeared for all sorts of systems, including mobile OSes – we've made you a list of the best free games from the saga to appear in the Android ecosystem.

We've been jaded for far too long–forced to watch as Square Enix squandered the greatness of the Final Fantasy saga on shoddy, ill-prepared games of questionable value that were really nothing more than lame opportunistic attempts at money grabbing and not at all like the original classics. The arrival of Mobius Final Fantasy –released a full year ago in Japan– was a surprise and a redemption. This JRPG on Android was laid down by major talents like Yoshinori Kitase, the director behind gems like Final Fantasy VII or Chrono Trigger. Now, after a long wait it's finally been officially released in Europe and is totally free.
